Project 4.0

• The Urban room was to be built on the land of Newcastle upon tyne.

• The given site was a place with 2 large trenches, footpaths and a small bridge near the town wall and stowell street.​

• At starting of the project, we had to do a group work on creating a multi-layered mapping of the site.

• After that, Individual Site Survey took place to produce a diagram of the site strategy.

• A contour diagram was created on the basis of the ground levels and different levels of trenches.

• Then to understand the topic, we had been asked to do some Spatial Investigations or precedent studies of different Urban rooms present in the world. (example: - National Music Centre, Canada; Architecture Centre, Amsterdam; Maggie's Centre, Oxford, UK)

• On the basis of the understanding and imagination, 2 Collages were created for Urban room.

• From these, some Concept ideas were built and to be created in the form of concept models. By experimenting with different ideas 3 concept models were built.

• Then after, a concept diagram was created, by mixing the concept ideas of the three models.

• Finally, on the basis of the Concept diagram a final Model was born and a design was created as per requirements.

• The Design proposal requirements were: -

3. 1:200 Site Model

4. 1:100 plan of each floor

5. 1:50 long section

6. 1:50 axonometric

7. 1:100 concept models x 3

8. 1:50 sketch model

This Design was all about contours as "if a series of contours can form trenches so how can it not built a building or tower of contours" matching with the surroundings.

The design was named as "falling Water V2.0"

Due to contours at same levels on the external part of the building with different circumferences, When the water falls on the contours and goes in the trench it creates a falling water like structure.
