Project 1.1

Serial Vision, Mapping and Sketches.

Serial vision

  • It is a method of documenting a journey as a sequence of fixed moments,

  • This project is based upon exploring Newcastle with its six different streets such as High bridge street, Low friar street, Pudding chair, Seville row, fourth lane, and pink lane.

  • choosing one of the six streets, a serial vision is to be produced to record this journey with its sensory and atmospheric characteristics by sketching it.

Urban Mapping

  • Mapping and cartography are used to give clarity and composition to our usable environment. Often referred to as being born out of warfare, maps chart the histories of our lands, cities and the propositions for change.

  • In groups, a predetermined journey of the streets was to be produced using a non-traditional method. The map had to record different characteristics of the six streets, such as texture, smell, sound, people and tone.

  • this was to be produced in a modular form.

There are some sketches of landmarks and famous buildings in Newcastle, while exploring it.
